Things to consider

Do you want to be involved in deciding what happens after you have gone? We can help with some of the practical things and we have put together the most important ones here.

  • Who should have your savings when you die?
  • Express your wishes in a will

Decide how your assets should be distributed

As well as your pension savings, you may also have other assets, such as a house, a car or a private savings scheme.

If you want to decide who receives your assets when you die, you can make a will.

This might be a good idea if you:

  • have a life partner who you want to provide for
  • want your estate to be distributed in a specific way
  • do not have any heirs and want your assets to pass to an association or organisation.

Who should make decisions if you are unable to?

A lasting power of attorney allows others to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to make decisions yourself.
