What is Critical Illness for Children?

With the Critical Illness for Children insurance, you can insure your children. Should your child contract one of the illnesses covered by the insurance, you can apply for a tax-free lump sum. It can give you financial peace of mind, so you can focus on being there for your child and family.

You can insure your biological children, adopted children, stepchildren and cohabitants' biological children, adopted children, stepchildren. Children must be under 18 years of age.

Yes, you can choose between a cover of DKK 100,000 or DKK 200,000. If you choose DKK 200,000, there is a six-month waiting period before the coverage takes effect. In the meantime, the coverage is DKK 100,000. Of course, you only pay for the low coverage during that period.

  • Cancer, with the exception of less aggressive forms 
  • Cancer of the blood and haematopoietic organs, with the exception of less aggressive forms 
  • Heart disease requiring surgery
  • Cerebral haemorrhage or blood clot in the brain (stroke) with permanent sequelae 
  • Sac-shaped dilation of the brain's arteries (aneurysm) or vessel formation inside the skull (AV malformation) as well as cavernous angioma in need of surgery 
  • Certain benign tumours of the brain and spinal cord in need of surgery 
  • Multiple sclerosis (DS) 
  • Chronic kidney failure 
  • Major organ transplants 
  • Inflammation of the brain or meningitis (including Borrelia and TBE) with severe neurological consequences 
  • Muscular dystrophy (myopathy and neuropathy) with persistent progressive symptoms 
  • Major burns (ambustio), frostbite or corrosion covering at least 10 per cent of the body surface 
  • Terminal illness 
  • Diabetes, type 1 

The insurance only covers if the diagnosis meets the requirements for the disease and was made after the insurance came into force.
